Equal Pay for All: How Organizations Can Ensure Pay Equity for ALL Employees

Started by the National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE) in 1996, the goal of Equal Pay Day is to raise awareness about the gender wage gap. Equal Pay Days throughout the calendar year helps to bring awareness to the pay inequities that often exist for women, especially women of color.

The first Equal Pay Day for this year was on March 15, 2022. This is the date by which a woman had earned as much as a man earned in 2021. It is based on the latest U.S. Census figures show that the average woman who works full time is paid just 83 percent of the typical man’s pay. Because the pay gap varies significantly among different communities, other Equal Pay Days have been added to the calendar to reflect the fact that many women must work far longer into the year to catch up to men’s earnings in the previous year. As we enter the last few months of the year, Black women (Sept 21st), Native American women (November 30th), and Latina women (December 8th) had to work almost 9 to 12 additional months to make the equivalent to the pay of White men in 2021.

Given the rise in discussions about diversity, equity, and inclusion and the importance of pay transparency, we are excited to have an expert on pay equity, David Turetsky, VP at salary.com join us at this webinar. The discussion will include a review of the history of the gender wage gap and how employers can take action to ensure pay equity in their organizations.
